OPERATIVE POSITIONS AND ANESTHESIA

Abstract
Each operative position represents and agreement between the surgeon and the anesthesiologist :n regard to the patient. The surgeon requires an accessible, stable operative area. The anesthesiologist must have space in which to administer the anesthetic and a free-flowing intravenous. Therefore the result must come well within the rules for maximum safety and comfort to the patient as well as convenience on the part of the surgeon and anesthesiologist to do their respective duties.
In the operating room, the surgical team, which includes the surgeon, anesthesiologist and nurses should be well acquainted with the influence of posture on physiology which presupposes knowledge of proper body alignment and good body mechanics.
In this presentation several positioning of surgical patients as well as possible anatomical complications have been studied and reviewed. In this study, the importance of proper positioning especially during operations, in preventing post-operative complications have been proved to be remarkable.
